Fビザの有効期限は最長5年間のものが発給され、当初取得したI-20の有効期限を超えて有効なことがあります。シンデル外国法事務弁護士事務所に確認したところ、有効なI-20があればFビザの再申請は不要とのことでした。留学期間の延長や転校だけではなく、留学を終えて帰国し、再度アメリカに留学するような場合であっても新しくI-20が入手できれば手元にある有効なFビザを使って入国が可能とのことでした。ちなみに長期休学などで5か月以上連続でアメリカを離れた場合、I-20の再取得が必要となりますが、前述の通りビザの再取得は不要です。”However, if a student has been out of the United States for more than five consecutive months (and not on study abroad), they will need to obtain a new Form I-20, “Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status,” and pay the I-901 SEVIS Fee again.
