FAMでBビザでの滞在期間は一時的でなければならないとなっていますが、6か月までと定められているわけではありません。
9 FAM 402.2-2(D) Temporary Period of Stay
a. Although “temporary” is not specifically defined by either statute or regulation, it generally signifies a limited period of stay. The fact that the period of stay in a given case may exceed six months or a year is not in itself controlling, provided that you are satisfied that the intended stay actually has a time limitation and is not indefinite in nature.
「まぁ、1年でも納得できればいい」というころでしょうか。実際に弊社でも研修に11か月かかるとして申請し、B-1ビザを取得したことがあります。ただし入国の際に認められる滞在期間は6か月ですので、11か月の研修を2回に分けました。
とはいえ滞在予定期間が長くなるとそれだけ就労を疑われるため、グリーンフィールドでは弊社では6か月までの申請を勧めています。もちろん滞在許可の延長または再入国により結果的に6か月を超えるのはかまいませんが、実際の予定と異なる期間での申請を勧めるものではありません。
